About Me

About Me

I generally paint in watercolour, often adding a neat gouache extract in order to develop depth of colour and vibrancy. My style developed whilst studying at the University of Coventry where I gained a First Class Honours Degree in Illustration.

I enjoy creating pictures that tell a story of a world that I have created for my characters to live in. My favourite personalities reappear in different situations carrying out different day to day activities. Keep an eye out for Betty with her brown hair tied in a bun, and her lively brown dog who can often be seen taking her for a walk!

Many of the people in my images are inspired by people that I know or perhaps come into contact with on a regular basis – family, friends, shop assistants and even the Big Issue seller. Their antics often make me smile and compel me to include a little of their personality into my paintings. In this way I feel that I capture some of the realistic characteristics of real people.

I find myself looking at the awkward super market cashier, bank manager, garage mechanic or doctors receptionist in a new light and my thoughts wonder to thinking... wouldn't you look great stepping into a cow pat or doing a mad dance, perhaps in a village life scene!

So, you never know you may be somewhere in my illustration, so keep a look out for my new collections!
